Skyline Carbon Ski combines ultralight touring efficiency with stable freeride performance in variable terrain
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve toured on the Skyline Carbon in everything from windblown ridges to soft powder, and it’s a ski I trust. At just 1500 grams it feels effortless on the uphill, but the camber and aluminum stringers give it the confidence of a heavier ski on the down. It’s the rare lightweight touring ski that doesn’t get tossed around when things get steep or choppy."
Who It’s For
Backcountry Skiers Chasing Long Tours and Technical Lines:
The Skyline Carbon is built for experienced backcountry skiers who prioritize uphill efficiency without compromising downhill confidence. Perfect for those tackling big vertical days, technical alpine terrain, and variable snowpacks.
What It’s For
Lightweight Touring and Steep Descents:
With a 95mm waist and freeride camber-dominant profile, the Skyline is tuned for versatility—quick and efficient on the skin track, stable and grippy on icy steeps, and still floaty enough for powder lines. It’s ideal for riders who want one ski that excels in both long missions and technical descents.
Why We Like It
Efficiency and Stability Without Compromise:
We like the Skyline Carbon because it pairs a featherweight paulownia/carbon construction with aluminum stringers for a damp, confidence-inspiring feel. It climbs like a race ski but descends with the control of a freeride model. That rare mix of uphill speed and downhill power makes it a standout touring companion.

These skis are so fun and versatile! They’ve quickly become my go-to skis for spring backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering. They’re lightweight enough to save my legs on the up but don’t compromise performance at all on the down. I love how precise, responsive and nimble they are in all types of terrain and conditions - they can handle anything and everything, in the backcountry and even inbounds. Just an all-around excellent, reliable and FUN ski for any mountain adventure!

The Skyline by Weston is a PERFECT all around ski for those who love groomers and carving tight turns --- I ride the 160cm, with 121 / 98 / 107mm, making it a perfect under foot for every day riding. Also, the Carbon option on this ski is lighter for those looking to set it up for Backcountry! If you dig more snowy conditions & powder, check out the Summits at 105mm underfoot and the Pow Monster is the Grizzly at 112mm for the 166cm ... All in all Weston has GOT YOU in terms of ski variety -

Perfect to ski in the backcountry

I was thoroughly impressed with the performance of the 176cm skis and Weston skins in the backcountry, even in extreme conditions with frigid temperatures and high winds. The skins held strong over approximately 2,500 vertical feet and four laps of repeated application and removal. Despite the blowing snow, the glue remained flawless, maintaining excellent adhesion to both the skis and the snow. They also provided smooth glide on the skin track, which was a huge plus. As expected from Weston, the skis were reliable and an absolute joy to ride. They handled beautifully, whether navigating tight tree lines or carving through open bowls. Their lightweight design made them especially nimble, and I’m excited to bring them on an upcoming hut trip. I’ll share more after that adventure! For reference, I’m 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. While the 176cm skis worked great, I feel like the 184cm version would’ve been equally suitable.

My go-to spring touring ski

I use this ski predominantly as my late-winter/spring touring/mountaineering ski. I normally ski it with a ScarpaF1 boot. I like the balance between stiffness/stability and weight. In CO we also often have powder days through May and I find that it’s shape adapts well to all conditions corn —> powder. I’m fortunate to be able to ski all of the different models of Weston skis, and this one is becoming my favorite in the lineup due to its versatility and its ability to perform in a variety of snow conditions. I have skied some fairly big lines on this ski in variable conditions and would do it again.

I got this ski over a season ago, and since then I haven't reached for another pair of skis. Whether you're in the deep or skiing spring corn, this ski tackles it all with ease. They're light enough to tuck way back into the woods on a long approach and strong enough to rip on steep, technical terrain. Snappy enough to make quick and efficient hop turns, and stable enough to straightline steeps. Truly a do it all ski, I can't speak highly enough of the construction.
