Versatile 3-in-1 kids’ ski jacket with waterproof protection and cozy insulation
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"The Freedom Triclimate Jacket is my go-to pick for kids because it’s three jackets in one. The waterproof DryVent shell keeps them dry in snow or rain, while the zip-in Heatseeker Eco insulated liner adds warmth on cold ski days or works solo in shoulder seasons. Parents love the versatility—kids only need one jacket for all conditions."
The North Face built the Freedom Triclimate Jacket to handle unpredictable weather and active kids who want to be outside no matter what the forecast says. This clever three-in-one design gives them options: wear the waterproof DryVent shell alone on wet days, the Heatseeker Eco insulated liner when it’s cold but dry, or zip them together for the full storm-ready package.
From the playground to the ski hill, a fixed powder skirt and helmet-compatible hood add extra coverage, while zippered hand and sleeve pockets keep snacks and essentials secure. Lightweight yet warm, rugged yet comfortable, the Freedom Triclimate is an all-season workhorse for adventurous kids.

Great jacket
This is perfect for my son-11yo. I love that he only has to keep track of 1 coat and we can make use of it all year across all climates. He loves the fit and the thinness of this coat. It keeps him very warm without being bulky.

Solid choice for child in elementary school
We live in NYC where winter can feel like in the teens. I am impressed by how warm yet compact this jacket feels. It keeps my child warm outdoors during school recess without needing another layer. Wind- and water-proof are good features to have.

Please bring back pockets on inner coat
We own the triclimate for all three of our boys. I've even purchased for cousins in the past. We would love to continue purchasing this style for its versatility and color selection. Unfortunately they stopped making the inner jacket with pockets. Which is a deal breaker for our family. The children wear the inner coat the most throughout spring and fall, in the Midwest. Those pockets are essential for cold hands, bringing cars and rocks along, holding tissue for runny noses, gloves when bare hands are needed. This coat WAS really perfect. I'll keep checking each season until then we settle for the other guys (their pattens are less versatile vs solid colors). If this is not a big deal for you then it's a great coat but if you can relate I encourage you to advocate for the return of pockets on the inner jacket. Having those pockets really does take it from maybe this will do to spectacular.

deceitful picture .no pants
Instead of writing jacket it says trick mate and then you receive just the jacket. No pants. And then when you go back to buy the marching pants they're not available. So no suit, contrary to the picture

Daughter loves it!
We've only skied in it a few times but my 8yr old daughter loves it, sized up to a 10 so she could keep growing, and it has enough room for another puffer on cold days, helmet compatible hood is key for wet days and chair rides when snowmaking is going full blast- We will see how it lasts with a season under it, but so far it's been great

Skiers go to jacket
I like that you can use the hoodie to cover the helmet to keep your neck warm. I also like that the I can easily identify my son from the crowd with it's unique color combination. He said he like it because It really keeps him warm.

Slightly disappointed
Slightly disappointed in the lack of some features for a North Face coat and this price point. There are no inside pockets, the inner coat that can be warn separate doesn't have any pockets at all. The snaps at the wrists to join the 2 coats are not strong enough and always detach when removing the coat. The hood is not adjustable. It is warm and light weight but really lacking some basic features. I would not buy again.
