Why We Like The Steripen Classic 3 Handheld Water Purifier
One of our favorite wilderness essentials, the Steripen Classic 3 Handheld Water Purifier with Prefilter Bundle Pack uses shortwave ultraviolet light to disinfect our backcountry drinking water. The Steripen system disrupts the DNA of harmful bacteria, viruses, and protozoa so they won't infect us on our adventure or afterward. The Prefilter screws onto 63mm-thread bottles, creating a tight seal that removes particles and debris from the water.

Great for emergency pack
These steripens take up very little space in my emergency packs and are worth their weight in gold in an emergency. They are foolproof to use and get you safe drinking water in 90 seconds.

In case of emergency and outdoor fun.
I like that this will kill the viruses and bacteria in my drinking water. Even wheb water looks clean it may not be so this will give you peace of mind. I like that it used AA batteries that are easy to come by and accessible. Great for emergencies and for when hiking or camping or even traveling.

pretty cool water tool
This seems to work pretty well... I'm planning on testing some creek water, before and after to see how it really holds up before I take it on the trail. The price was great and it doesn't seem easy to come by in the retail space. I would say it's a good find! I'd reccomend this to anyone who camps/hikes.

Efficient and Effective
Used this for 5 weeks on the GDMBR. Found the Classic 3 Purifier to be easy to use and effective. I have dealt with Giardia twice in my life. As a result, I very particular about my water treatment system. After considerable research and an understanding of water quality on the GDMBR, I decided this device would work for me. That said, I do have a couple of complaints. First is that you can only treat 1 liter of water at a time. This results in a longer process when have to purify multiple liters of water. The other is the lack of a battery life indicator. After a month of use the batteries were done and I was left with my primary purifying tool until my next resupply. Despite these complaints, I found this to be a great tool while bike packing; highly recommend.

Great product but…
Make sure you keep any eye on the batteries. The button can activate in your backpack and kill the batteries. I take the batteries out of mine after each use so I don’t get in a bind again. Other than that the unit has worked flawlessly

Great Addition to my Hunting Kit
I got this because some places I hunt there are Cattle leases. The Sawyer squeeze filter left me worried about viruses in the creeks. Adding this on gave me piece of mind and it works great and is easy to use for anyone.

Useless
I hated this piece of junk, I threw it away after a couple uses. It felt flimsy and cheap and over all I was not impressed.

Lightweight backcountry and emergency item
I purchased this Steripen to purify filtered water on a week-long back country trip, and to keep at hand in an urban water emergency. It is easy to use, and I feel confident with the company’s long service to outdoors people. While I often opt for rechargeable gear, I chose the Classic 3 battery-powered Steripen because I may have drained the power pack recharger due to the amount of gear that requires it (camera, phone, pump…). Storing with my emergency pack with batteries out, I would be able to add fresh batteries and be good to go.

Perfect UV pen
Steripen works like a charm with the pre-filter lid for Nalgene bottles.
