Why We Like The Telos TR2 Tent

We pack along the Telos TR2 Tent to keep the comfort and stoke high while backpacking with our adventure comrade. The Tension Ridge system increases head and shoulder room, giving us more space for rest and relaxation. We stop condensation from forming and keep from suffocating in our own stench by opening the peak and floor vents, letting fresh mountain air flow through.

Here's what customers have to say

Here is the refined product review summary: The tent is spacious with ample headroom and floor space, suitable for two people. Customers praise its ease of setup, with color-coded poles and versatile rainfly configurations. The lightweight and compact design make it well-suited for backpacking, and it has held up well in various weather conditions. However, some users note the stakes could be more durable, and the tent can be tricky to set up alone in windy or uneven conditions. A few have also experienced minor issues with the zippers and mesh.

Not water resistant at all. But incredible tent for dry hikes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed the tent first backpacking trip. Super light weight has everything i needed in that aspect. Super easy to set up and take down. But it is not in the least rain resistant or proof. It didn't even rain it was dew and whole drops were coming through my tent.

Best Backpacking Tent Money Can Buy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I bought the Telos 3 after trying a two person Nemo we like the Nemo but just felt like I didn’t have nearly enough room. I was hesitant to spend so much on a new tent because we have other tents because we are long time car campers. We needed something significantly lighter because we were doing our first long backpacking trip – hiking into a corner of the Grand Canyon called the Havasupai Indian reservation. We were blessed with amazing weather while we were there at the end of September, and we were able to sleep with the fly pull back so we could stargaze and listen to the soothing sounds of Mooney Falls (powerful waterfall that was only about 20 feet or so away). The extra room we got with the 3-person tent made us so happy for very little additional weight. Additionally, we loved the way the tent can be broken down into different Carrie packs so we could each share the load in our backpacks. Even more genius was the little tube that the dates come in that offers double duty as a place to hang your headlamp and have soft overhead light. This was just our first time using it. We can’t wait to go back camping again. I would recommend the stand to any couple or couple with a dog. We also bought the Sea to Summit biodegradable soap in the tiny travel size. That stuff was amazing and allowed us to clean ourselves, our dishes, and even gently hand wash our laundry so we weren’t completely stinky on the way out. That stuff is worth it weight in gold, too.

First Ultralight Tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was between the Telos and the Dan Durtson X-Dome 2! What made me lean towards this Telos was the Sunshade configuration and the better price when these go on sale. The packing design is great and splits for easier backpacking storage. The only concern is the non closable vent in the outer. I have not tested it in severe rain so I can not say if the zipper just underneath the vent is water proof enough. Being traumatized from Texas flood rains, I have a tarp set up to cover the tent if need be. The Telos has plenty of space to keep extra bags at the foot even with two people. I was able to attach a separate Aldi tent organizer to the inside where you would put the Sea to Summit organizer for shoes and extra blanket. When I set up the tent for the first time I admittedly set the pole system backwards and it still worked! Once setting it up correctly out in the wilderness it was even easier. The guy-lines are super easy to tighten and the stakes are plenty strong. If you are going into extreme winds you will have to get some more stakes and additional line. Super roomy and additional pockets for two people. Some people complained about the zips being rainbow zips and I had no issue using them one handed. The tub is considerably high which is comforting. The only regret I have was not getting the footprint to better utilize the vestibule space. Pretty happy and will be taking it out again in the cooler months to come.

I upgraded to this 3

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded to this 3 person tent from my very old REI 2 person Camp Dome which is still in great shape but now I'm married and my husband complains he wants more room. I also wanted something lighter since we've begun backpacking. This Telos met both criteria of lighter and more interior space plus vestibule space. Setup is quick and easy. One morning after a rainy night I did have a bit of leak that landed inside on the floor. I'm not sure if I needed to guy it out better, or if the amount of rain exceeded the hydrostatic head rating. I read somewhere it was seam-sealed at factory so I did not do that step. One of the reasons I chose this tent was the straighter sides than a typical dome; this makes the poles a little funky to pack up and take some getting used to, but it works out just fine with a bit more attention. Overall, really liking this tent!

Lightweight tent with a lot of luxury functionality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a light weight tent design with good ventilation for humid weather and avoid condensation. But the top ventilation can still allow some water in during heavy rains. Also the water does not bead up on the rain fly, so I have to hang it around to dry up.

BWCA Tested

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently used my Telos tent for a 4 night stay in the Boundary Waters Wilderness area of northern Minnesota. The Telos performed great and I’m really glad I made the decision to acquire it. Pitching the tent was very easy and quick (I practiced a few times at home). The color coding makes the process very intuitive and simple. I utilized a Bigfoot XL ground cloth which integrates easily and effectively. The Telos is lighter and roomier than the previous tents I’ve taken on this trip. My son accompanied me and at nearly 6’7”, the young giant still had plenty of headroom to sit up and space to move around when needed. I really appreciated the design of the rainfly and the various position it can be deployed. For the most part we kept the sides rolled up to maximize airflow and ventilation. But when weather threatened our area it was quick and easy to fully deploy the fly in a matter of minutes. I’d highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for a lightweight shelter for hiking or canoeing into your camping spot.

Excellent tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We took it on a 5-day hike along the coast of Olympic Peninsula. The tent os comfortable for three people. Light and very well thought through. Aluminum fly attachments are genius.

Honestly not satisfied at all, will be making a warranty claim

I ordered this tent for a backpacking trip with my partner as I was intrigued by the design and the 5 star ratings. I have used many tents in the past and this by far has let me down the most after just two nights. I still have a month to stay in it before I get back to Canada which is very unfortunate. Cheers

First impressions

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
2 person

Shockingly easy to set up, the rod color coding made it surprisingly intuitive. I’m a big fan of the double-sided doors and the inside is surprisingly spacious. Does not come with the footprint or any type of mesh repair, which sucks because I noticed a small hole in the mesh after the first use. Overall pretty sweet! Haven’t tried out in colder weather but the 6-in tub feature makes me want to
