Here's what customers have to say

The Salomon X Ultra 5 hiking boots received mixed reviews. Many users found the boots to be comfortable, supportive, and durable, with good traction and waterproofing. They were also praised for being lightweight and breaking in easily. However, some users reported issues with the fit, finding the boots too tight or narrow. A few users experienced quality problems, such as laces coming undone or the boots falling apart after limited use. Overall, the boots seem to provide decent performance, but the fit and quality may vary.

Great shoes and almost tire proof!

I have worn Salomon boots for more then a decade in the construction industry I wore the same boot on date nights too. I would get about a year out each, wearing them the entire day most of it in every condition you can imagine, the zero break in and support and absolute rock solid performance compared to other boots I would have bought two a year if I had to,. Only had one pair I received that wasn't in proper form, which Salomon promptly replaced. I am no longer working those hours or conditions so my Solomons now last a very long time for me, this particular shoe was a replacement for an older version and I was fortunate enough to wear them on a trip to New Orleans. The very first night there I was hit in a cross walk, the driver thankfully swerved enough to only clip my right foot. The tire rolled up my back ankle tore up a little skin and only left a black mark on the ankle. Unfortunately I can't get the tire mark out but the shoe is still performing beautifully.

Love these show BUT..

After about a month a 1/2" bump will appear in the right shoe under your pinky toe. It's extremely uncomfortable. This is my second pair of Salomon that this has happened too.

Perfect for flat feet

I have flat feet and it took forever to find a pair of hiking boots that didn’t require an expensive insert to make comfortable. I’ve been wearing these exclusively for 5+ years now for everyday use including hiking, disc golf, and working around the yard.

Bad Design

I have purchased previous generations of this shoe and have loved them. But the redesign misses the mark. The body of the shoe around the tongue is not attached and begins gapping after wearing just a few weeks. Disappointed and will definitely be more careful about evaluating in the future. The XA 3D gtx is much better.

Perfect out of the box!

I just completed a two hour hike with these boots and all I have to say is they are perfect. They have a very supportive sole while being extremely comfortable all around my feet and ankles. In addition, they are very lightweight. They are easily adjustable. The quality of construction is impeccable. I have a feeling these will last me quite a while. Thank you, Salomon!

I have had these boots for years buying atleast one pair a year as I do landscaping work as well as hiking and wear them almost daily for a work. I’ve always loved them until these 5s. The lower half and sole seem to be fine, but the upper area around the ankle and the tongue of the boots look like Napoleon Dynamites winter boots from 1987. Then ultra 4s were great! I wish they would have kept the upper design the same as with the 4 and I wish I wouldn’t have bought the 5 now that I have them. Why would they take a quality product and downgrade quality and also raise the price from the previous model. Way to make me look elsewhere in the future salomon. Please let me know if you decide to improve quality and I may reconsider. I’ve literally bought these same boots atleast once if not twice a year for the past 4-5 years and this is the first complaint I’ve had with them. Ugh….

Absolutely amazing first pair of hiking boots.

I bought last month before going on a hikes around Madeira. The service in the store was very kind and helpful and got me to choose the right size. Very comfortable boots. The grip is amazing, and I was shocked with how good the water proof is, not a single drop went inside. I hiked for 4h in this boots and not a single blister! It is the perfect pair alongside with their hiking socks.

Ultra 4 was better

The Ultra 4 was one of the only shoes that did not irritate a bad toe joint I have. Got the Ultra 5 hoping it would be the same. It isn't. Had to use my worn out Ultra 4's for a big hike and I had no problem.
