Here's what customers have to say

The shoe provides exceptional traction on ice, snow, and slippery surfaces, with built-in metal spikes and an aggressive outsole offering superior grip. The waterproof design keeps feet dry and warm, allowing users to continue their winter running routines with confidence. Some minor drawbacks include the shoe feeling slightly narrower than previous models and the rubber compound being quite hard in cold temperatures. Overall, the shoe is widely regarded as a reliable and high-performing option for winter running on challenging terrain.

Not just for snow and ice

I hike with them in the mountains of San Diego California and love them. They provide amazing traction on rock, gravel and cobblestones. I also hike with HOKA Speedgoat 6 trail runners, and they have very decent traction, but nowhere near as much traction as the SpikeCross GTX. The tungsten tips hold up well on the hard surfaces. I have approximately 100 miles on the shoes and have negligible wear on the spikes. I bought the shoes by accident and didn’t use them for 2 years after the purchase thinking they would not work well on hard surfaces. Wrong. It’s like having the footing of a cat on steep rock surfaces and slippery gravel. Excellent protection from rock strikes for the toe box and heels. Very decent cushioning too.

Salomon Spikecross – Your Winter Running Ally

The Salomon Spikecross is a winter running shoe that truly stands out, especially for those tough Canadian winters. If you’re running on ice, packed snow, or slippery trails, this shoe is a total game-changer. With built-in metal spikes and an aggressive outsole, the Spikecross offers unbeatable traction on the iciest, hardest surfaces. It gives you the confidence to run fast and steady without worrying about slips or falls. Plus, the waterproof design keeps your feet dry and warm, so you can focus on your run, not the weather. Durable and comfortable, the Spikecross fits like a glove and holds up even in the harshest conditions. If winter running is part of your routine, this shoe is an absolute must-have. A true blessing for anyone serious about staying active through winter!

I love these shoes

Every time I go for a winter hike I am grateful for these shoes. They are warm, supportive, and nonslip. I feel confident when running or walking up or down hills that I will not lose my grip. They are built in such a way that snow does not get into the show as well. Best purchase I have ever made for a pair of hikers. I will buy them again.

great for running

I have worn these for trail running in very muddy conditions and also on a recent very icy and snowy hike. They were brilliant and stopped me from slipping

Amazing

I bought these for trail running in Alaska during the winter and they’ve been amazing. I feel so secure running on the snow and ice. My feet stay nice and dry as well.

Perfect for Orienteering

I have tried a number of different spiked trainers for orienteering but none have the foot space and traction the spike cross has provided. Yes they are not in the cheap side but worth every penny.

Good for icey running

Bought a month ago. Used a couple times because the city doesn't plough the sidewalks in Ottawa. Rubber is super hard when cold - wish it wasn't as it makes running less enjoyable.

Amazing grip

I use this footwear on tallus slopes, snow and ice covered logging roads and open frozen fields. The shoes have remarkable tread on snow, ice and frozen ground which has allowed daily access on snowy surfaces. Possible improvements include tacking at least one side of the tongue to the shoe to avoid having to pull the tongue out while sliding the foot wear on. Also the eleastic laces catch on brush occasionally. Really like to unisex width.

Spikes for ice

Although I purchased these some time ago, it is only in the last week I have had the benifits. They are simply excellent. I seek out water ice to prove to myself how effective they really are. Expensive but worth but no hip replacement this year!
