Storm-ready Absolute 3L Jacket with 20K protection and Motion Fit freedom
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I reached for the Absolute 3L all season—from sleeper storm days to windy groomers. It’s a true shell, so layering is easy, and the 20K waterproofing never flinched. The Motion Fit patterning keeps it moving cleanly with every pole plant, and I’m a fan of the pocket layout with the pass pocket on the sleeve and a mesh goggle stash inside."
Built for storm cycles and stacked laps, the Salomon Absolute 3L Jacket gives us a quiet, supple shield for all-winter riding. We pull on the Absolute 3L for everything from first-chair hot laps to sidecountry stashes, trusting its streamlined silhouette and mountain-focused features to keep our kit dialed and our movements unrestricted.
This three-layer design pairs a recycled-nylon face and backer with fully sealed seams and a 20K/20K membrane for dependable waterproof breathability. Motion Fit patterning preserves full range of motion when we’re pushing the pace, while underarm zips dump heat on bootpacks. A helmet-compatible hood, integrated powder skirt, and adjustable cuffs seal out spindrift, and five well-placed pockets keep phone, pass, and snacks sorted without bulk.

So far so good
I bought this jacket for a 4 day ski trip in the Alps. It is definitely a shell (so keep those base layers!) but worked well to keep me dry (I think—I am still learning and spent a lot of time in the snow). Love the amount of pockets it has along with the goggle lens cloth in the breast pocket. My only complaints are that it's really more of an orange than the tomato red shown in the product photos (and I was more excited about the red) and the shoulders are a bit narrow...I wish I got a large instead of a medium for a better fit :/

LOVE
Great fit (actually baggy in the way I want it - I size up to L). Love how many pocket there are. Great waterproofing and lightweight

Great Fit for 5'4" 125lb Woman
Got the size S (small) for my 5'4" 125lb self and this outer-layer works great. I have slightly broader shoulders from working out, and am fit, so we worried about the shoulders being too narrow when under-layering sweaters/vests for skiing - but these turned out to be great. The horizontal pockets instead of vertical hand pockets were a worry at first, but they're turning out to be great since there is less of a worry for losing keys and whatnot when forgetting to zip the zipper. Overall great purchase and highly reccommend - very stylish and perfect for keeping the wind/snow out.

Scratches easily
I like the design and colour of this jacket but noticed after just 3 hours of careful use, it has multiple scratches on it. I’m unsure if the material of the jacket itself is the culprit for this. I’ve owned many items in lighter colours and haven’t had issues with marks/scratches in the short term. My friend has a jacket in a similar colour from a different company and has used her jacket multiple times without any issues. I am worried about what long term use will do to the jacket. On the plus side, it kept me very dry!
