Storm-ready protection with Torrentshell 3L Jacket—packable, breathable, trail-tough
\What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I grab the Torrentshell 3L when the forecast looks unruly. It sheds all-day rain, dumps heat fast with the underarm vents, and disappears in my pack when the sun returns. Simple, reliable weather armor that just works."
When the sky opens up, the Torrentshell 3L Jacket keeps us moving. Patagonia pairs its H2No Performance Standard 3-layer membrane with recycled nylon ripstop to deliver hard-wearing waterproof, breathable protection in a lightweight, packable shell.
We reach for Torrentshell on everything from misty commutes to ridge-line slogs: the helmet-compatible hood cinches cleanly, underarm zips vent steep climbs, and the jacket stows into its own hand pocket when the storm finally breaks.

Nice jacket
- Size Bought:
- Small
Nice jacket. I ordered the small. I’m 5’7” 135lbs and the jacket fit well with enough room to layer a puffy underneath. Wound up returning it though and went a different direction. Not sure how water proof it is

I have a huge collection of Patagonia that I have purchased over the years. I also wear Patagonia for work. This 3L generation of the Torrentshell is exceptional, bombproof and immediately became one of my go to jackets for wet weather days here in Seattle. I bought one for my partner and she bought one for her daughter. Top notch design and quality but at another level. Patagonia nailed it on the zipper and hood design and durability. JDS

Stylish, lightweight, and DRY

I needed a lightweight, packable rain cover for backpacking through Italy. I caught this on sale and was skeptical to its usability. I ended up living in this jacket for a few rainy days and it worked out amazing. It was stylish and I was able to zip up my gear inside the busy metro stations. It could do with a couple more pockets but overall amazing rain jacket. Not made for warmth but will insulate you well with regular layers.

I bought this coat for a 10-day trip to the Azores. It rained nearly every day, and didn't stop me for a second! The Torrentshell kept me dry and comfortable, even on a 7 hour climb of Mt. Pico with rain blowing from all directions. - I love the blue color, it looks great. - the jacket, like all raincoats can be a little warm in warm weather. It is an effective windbreaker and the pit zips help- I was pretty comfortable wearing it with a T-shirt underneath in 65 degree weather. - initially the jacket is a bit stiff and crinkly from the factory, but after a few uses and packing/unpacking it loosens up nicely. - zippers and pulls are great quality. -lightweight and packable in a pocket. -I am 6'1", 190lbs and the Large leaves plenty of room for layering without looking baggy. I LOVED having this jacket and highly recommend it.

I bought this jacket for my first AT trip. But I live in western NC and plans changed. I used the jacket to travel throughout the area and assit people in need. The jacket took all of the abuse that I have it and it keep me protected from some very nasty weathet.

Excellent rain-protection and quality
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

Excellent product: sturdy, well-made, effective, smooth-operating protected zippers, large zipped armpit openings, ample Velcro to secure jacket around wrists, ample hood. My only complaints are that there aren’t any inner pockets, and the durable, high-quality material is on the ‘crunchy’ side, so to speak, and is therefore fairly noisy when putting on, taking off, and moving around.

Nice raincoat

I just spent 14 days in Alaska and it rained pretty much every day. This jacket definitely kept me dry and it kept the wind out but you’ll want to layer because it won’t really keep you warm. The only negative is that it sounds like you’re wearing a Doritos bag. It’s really noisy. Other than that, it’s great!
