Stay dry and stylish on the mountain with the Outdoor Research Carbide Bib Pant—flexible and durable.
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve been rocking the Carbide Bib Pant for storm days and sunny spring laps alike, and it just works. The Pertex Shield fabric keeps me dry in wet snow while still letting me breathe on long hikes. I especially love the stretch suspenders—they don’t dig in and move with me. Plus, the side zips make pit stops way less of a hassle."
We count on the Outdoor Research Carbide Bib Pant to deliver reliable performance from mid-winter pow days to warm spring corn missions. Outdoor Research built these bibs with Pertex Shield 3-layer fabric, giving us waterproof and breathable protection that holds up in storm cycles without trapping heat when we’re working up the skintrack.
Loaded with smart features, the Carbide Bib Pant is designed with skiers and snowboarders in mind. A tricot backer wicks away moisture from our baselayers, dual side zips allow quick ventilation, and reinforced cuffs protect against ski edges and boot buckles. Pockets are positioned where we actually need them, with space for everything from an avalanche beacon to snacks and small essentials. The integrated suspenders stretch comfortably, and the unique Swing Hatch makes nature breaks quick and easy when we’re deep in the backcountry. These bibs are a staple for a reason: all-day comfort, storm-proof protection, and mountain versatility.

Used for several sports
This was purchased for my wife as the bib/coat combo. It has been used for everything from snowmobiling, backcountry hiking, and skiing. It has enough ability as far as ventilation goes to be able to make it a very versatile piece of equipment. It is not as thick as some of the ski dedicated equipment, so extra layers can be used to help. I would not recommend the coat specifically for backcountry skiing, just due to it being too thick, but otherwise they have worked out great.

Im 5'4.5" and 135 lbs and purchased a size small, based on the size guide. The fit is great! It's close but not tight, allowing for layering when necessary. Pockets are where you want them and there are tethers in the hip pockets to attach a phone tether etc. Didn't even think about them going down the mountain which is all I can ask.

Perfect for spring skiing/snowboarding.
I bought this bib shell because I needed an option for warmer days on the slopes. They are so light and comfortable. I did purchase them in short length and found them to be longer than I would like, but when all the gear and boots and bindings were on they worked well. They have plenty of space to layer under if the weather changes and gets colder.

These are lightweight and ideal for warmer temps or layering underneath. I skied in the rain (😒) yesterday and stayed completely dry. The chest pocket is plenty roomy and sits well, even with my large breasts. I’m impressed that I’ve never struggled with the shoulder straps twisting when I’m putting them on after a restroom break. They are a wee bit long: I have to roll them if not in my ski boots and make sure to pull up the rear cuff when stepping into my ski bindings. I’m 5’7” and 175 or so.

Not Durable
I bought the womens carbide bibs this past November and I have to say I'm highly disappointed in the "quality" of Outdoor Research. After only 4 wears, the bibs are showing heavy signs of wear and the membrane of the goretex has worn through. I'd be surprised if these last me more than one season. If you are an avid outdoors person, I recommend spending a bit more and getting a better quality product.

Perfect Shells
Really great shell bibs. I originally purchased thinking they were insulated, unfortunately they aren't and I run too cold to wear these much until spring skiing begins. I love that they come in short sizing. For those of us on the "not tall" side of life we no longer have to deal with the puddle of fabric at the feet that are always dragging the ground when not on skis. Fantastic LONG side zipper and elastic straps make these pants a breeze to utilize the restroom without having to take off your coat. Not sure why the zipper is on the opposite side than the Snowcrew Bibs. Although odd, does not deter from the usage of the bibs.

Love these! They are thin but with a layer underneath, they are perfect! They look and feel wonderful! Highly recommended!
