Your personal bug bunker.
Consider the Outdoor Research Bug Bivy as your personal fortress against blood-thirsty insects when you're sleeping soundly under a brilliant canopy of stars. This ultra-light bivy lends itself to minimalist backpacking trips where two things are certain: swarms of biting insects and pleasantly clear weather. No-See-Um Mesh facilitates impressive stargazing on cloudless evenings while keeping biting insects from feasting on your slumbering self. Hydroseam (2-layer) floor material and fully sealed seams prevent ground moisture from seeping through and dampening your sleeping bag.
The Bug Bivy retains its structure in blustery conditions, thanks to a Derlin Single Pole system, three stake loops, and two guy line loops. The Derlin Single Pole system is removable for ultralight backpackers shaving every possible ounce of excess weight. Other key features include sleeping pad straps for a secure fit and an internal mesh pocket for stashing small essentials, such as your flashlight or glasses.

Here's what customers have to say
Here is the refined summary: The product offers effective protection against bugs and insects during warm weather camping. Users praise its lightweight, compact design and ease of setup. The mesh netting and overhead pole create a spacious, breathable sleeping environment. However, some note the pole can be flimsy and the coverage may not fully protect against mosquitoes without additional gear. Overall, the product provides a simple, ultralight alternative to a traditional tent, though users may need to experiment with setup and accessories to meet their needs.

Sleep with Peace of Mind
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Finally, peaceful nights in the backcountry! I upgraded to this after years of losing sleep to bugs and mice in shelters, and wow is it a game-changer. The net even added a few degrees of warmth on cooler nights, which was a bonus. Note that the foot end of the net only stands up if you tie its loop to something above you, but if you'll be in your bag every night anyway, all you need is the pole over your face. Easy to set up, pack, and carry. Once you slide in and zip up, line the top half-moon of the base with a couple medium/heavy/bulky items to keep the net taught overhead all night and you're good to go. Never needed to use the straps around my sleeping pad, simply put my pad on top. Worth every ounce!

Terrible. Same your money.
Not sure I got the right one because the product I received is horribly designed and cheap feeling. It's very tight and the suspension is not intuitive to put together. Even when it's together it doesn't stay together over night. Very surprised OR would let such a inadequate product go out the door.

Item defective.
Upon opening package it is very apparent the channel for the pole as well as the zipper have been stitched closed rendering this item unusable. After looking to exchange the item I saw that there are no exchanges or returns authorized. Materials used seem solid, won't get to see if it holds up now.

Where is the pole hole?
Looks nice but where is the opening for the pole?! I purchased one a few weeks ago and when I tried to test it out couldn't find the opening for the pole........looks like the hole was sewn shut and I didn't feel comfortable cutting it open and possibly void the warranty. OR sent me a replacement and it's also got the hole sewn shut......what the heck!

The bivy works well as intended. The missing star is because the pole sleeve was sewn shut when it arrived and needed to be cut open, potentially cutting other stitches in the process.

I have not used this yet. Will look to pair with my tipi tent during mid season for bugs

Good product
I gave it 4 stars because it didn't come with instructions and the hole where I am supposed to put the pole in was sewn shut. I had to figure it out and cut the threads myself. It could easily be over looked by others.
