Mod5 MIPS Helmet with adjustable ventilation and BOA precision fit
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve used the Mod5 MIPS on big-mountain days and love how dialed it feels. The BOA fit system locks in a snug fit without hot spots, and the vents are super easy to adjust when conditions change. The Fidlock buckle is a game changer too—no fumbling with straps while wearing gloves."
We rely on the Oakley Mod5 MIPS Helmet when we’re charging steep terrain and need confidence in both comfort and protection. Its hybrid shell construction blends Oakley’s rugged Duramatter with lightweight polycarbonate to create a helmet that’s durable without feeling bulky. MIPS technology reduces rotational forces during angled impacts, giving us extra peace of mind when pushing into demanding lines.
This helmet isn’t just about safety—it’s designed for all-day wear. The BOA 360 Fit System allows micro-adjustments with a simple dial, and the Fidlock magnetic buckle makes on-and-off seamless, even with gloves. Adjustable top vents keep us cool on spring laps and sealed against midwinter cold. Inside, a Polartec Power Grid liner manages sweat while ear pads add warmth or can be removed for a breezier feel on bootpacks. The Mod5 balances performance, protection, and comfort in one helmet built for riders who demand more from their gear.

Broke on 3rd use

Loved it at first, and then what would’ve been my 4th time using it I noticed I couldn’t tighten the BOA system because it had broken off somehow. I’ve messed with other helmets BOA systems and do not know how that happened to mine to make it break off! I talked to Oakley, Backcountry, and BOA. No one can do anything about it. The warranty only lasts I think 3 months. Waste of money.

Nice Helmet

Overall very comfortable helmet, sits just a little higher than another helmet I tried, but not too bad really so you don't look like a mushroom head. Deal breaker for me was the goggle fit. The Anon M4 goggles doesn't fit well with this helmet, no pictures since I already returned it. The goggles stick out past the brim of the helmet and the helmet pushes the goggles down your face a little, pinching your nose, making it a little harder to breathe. It's unfortunate, got a great price during the holidays and it truly is one of the more comfortable helmets I've ever tried on. Definitely a huge upgrade from the last model Mod5. Basically I would recommend bringing your goggles to see if they fit. The M4 are huge, so it may just be them. But I'm not buying new goggles for a helmet since I bought my goggles at the end of last season. Someone might have better luck if they have Oakley goggles.

I have the Oakley MOD 5 size M but I wanted to upgrade to one with MIPS. I was totally surprised when I received the new helmet and it didn't fit me! The helmet was narrower than the old model, so I had to return it.
