Customer Images

Here's what customers have to say

The shoes are described as lightweight, responsive, and providing excellent support and stability, suitable for both trail running and hiking. However, some customers have noted issues with the fit, particularly those with wider feet, as the shoes run narrow even in the wide version. A few comments also mention the shoes feeling too high-stacked or unstable on uneven ground. Most customers seem satisfied with the durability, though a small number have reported the midsole breaking down or the shoes becoming deformed after moderate use. The laces have also been criticized by some as being too short.

Horrible "upgrade"

A horrible "upgrade" from the new balance men's fresh foam more v3!!! I cannot understand why shoe companies always have to try and improve a great model and almost always end up making a worse product! The Foam X Hierro v9 gave me pain in my toes and lower back!!! Terrible, terrible, terrible!

Nice looking & comfortable

For now I will give these shoes a strong 4. I have been disappointed in New Balance shoes as far as their durability goes in recent years. The new Hierro V 9 shoes look very well made but I will see how well they do over the next couple of years. I recently hiked the rails to trails offering of the Cheney trail in Manchester, Ct . The shoes were extremely comfortable and gripped the trail very well.I have several pairs of different shoes and these ones will be used on the local trails only. As to their inherent quality we will see how they do with the test of time :). I use Hoka Bondi 9's at the gym and wear them around town. I would not wear the Hierro V9 in those applications. If these New Balance Hierro V 9's turn out to be durable with sustainable comfort they will be a good product.

Disappointed

A let down. To frame this I only wear New Balance and always a 9.5 D. I had to go up to a wide because this runs NARROW. First time I’ve had to do that. When hiking the sole is too narrow and my first MTP (joint as base of big toe, that’s very prone to degenerative change) slides over the edge. On a 2 mile uphill hike I was aching back in the MTP joint after some time. Also somehow in the design causes the foot to twist in landing, basically the twist in counterclockwise in the right and clockwise in the left. It’s something to do with the cushion design. This puts even more stress on the MTP. Point is for us wide footers this shoe fails. It stresses the joints and it’s not up to what I expect from NB. THE PROS. cushioning can’t be beat and vibram tread can’t be beat.

Nlsn

I am a diabetic and I have problems finding a comfortable set of shoes to wear but these fit the bill! They are lite, very comfortable, support and easy to clean. Just wipe with a damp cloth. The foam doesn't wear down but gets more comfortable. I place my prescribed orthotics in the shoes and they're very comfortable
