Alpine 83 Recraft Sneaker updates vintage design with eco-conscious modern comfort
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"This sneaker is all about retro looks with modern comfort. I’ve worn it walking around town and on quick weekend getaways. It feels super light, stretches just right with the neoprene collar, and the recycled materials give it that feel-good factor."
Built for movement, designed with a nod to the past, the Alpine 83 Recraft Sneaker brings together classic styling and sustainable construction. We wear it for everything from bike commutes to laid-back urban missions, and it delivers comfort, versatility, and heritage-inspired detail at every step.
The combination of suede leather and 100% recycled textile makes the upper feel both durable and airy. A neoprene stretch collar makes slipping in and out a breeze, while the lightweight EVA midsole provides the soft underfoot cushion we crave for long days on the go. Finished with a molded TPU heel counter and rubber midsole, this is the kind of sneaker that feels as good as it looks.

Here's what customers have to say
The shoes offer a mix of features. They are comfortable and lightweight for everyday wear, with good traction and a stylish design. However, some users report durability issues like tears and holes developing quickly. The attached tongue design can also make the shoes difficult to put on. Additionally, there are concerns about lack of arch support and inconsistent sizing. Overall, the shoes seem best suited for casual, everyday use rather than more demanding activities.

Tricky
Great look, great feel, but difficult for my 10 year old son to put on. It has laces but it’s also a slip on with an opening that’s a bit tight. I didn’t quite notice that when I bought them online. Great for kids still learning how to tie a tight lace.

Function with a Pop of color
I’ve been eyeing these shoes for bit and finally decided to buy them. GLAD I DID! I’ve owned them for a bit over a month and had numerous people complement that they like my shoes. I’ve taken them out on the trails and they provided the grip and traction needed for the hike. They are now my favorite everyday shoes for style, comfort and now I’m always ready for the trails.

Really nice addition to my daily shoes choice
My new everyday shoe. Love the support and fit for my wider foot. Style is also quite nice and works at work and around town

Really great all-day shoe!
I have the black and tan ones and love them! Super comfortable and look professional enough to wear with khakis. Highly recommended!

Very good shoes
These are exceptionally well made shoes. Probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I wear them daily and have received compliments on how nice they look

Great walking shoe!
Great fit/shape for walking, awesome colors. No other maker has this color selection and at such great prices. I have bought several pair - love this line of sneakers!

Unusual pull-on opening makes less comfortable
These shoes have an unusual pull-on opening for the foot with the typical tongue and string pull to tighten only for show. I found that less comfortable, less sturdy feeling and more difficult to put on. I purchased the lighter, off-white version with the leather accent at the back. The front upper part of the shoe is a mesh fabric that--especially with the light color--makes cleanup challenging. Still, the shoes are functional and sturdy, and Merrell is my go-to for quality fit and style.

could be better
dont like it way tongue is secured to shoe and the fact it is undersized

Perfect - with socks :)
So far these shoes are great. Lightweight, good looking (I got the light camel color), very comfortable. Why not 5 stars? My only minor issue is the back of the shoe rubs on my tendon a little, but ONLY when wearing no-show socks. Who in their right mind goes hiking in no-show socks? Good point. Any reasonable sock does just fine. Great on lose gravel - good traction.

A+ All Purpose Shoe
These are my second pair of Alpine 83s (this particular color scheme is my "nice" pair, have worn in a business casual suit setting). I use them for long days on my feet at work, for errands, and for running around outdoors with my kid. They transition really well between urban concrete stomper and campground scrambler, both in looks and feel. 10/10. Would buy (another) pair again.
