Agility Peak 5 Bliss Shoe delivers rugged comfort and grip for technical trail adventures
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve taken these on some seriously demanding trails—wet rocks, loose dirt, steep climbs—and they just hold up. The FloatPro midsole gives me cushion without feeling mushy, and the MegaGrip outsole is rock solid, even on sketchy terrain. They're my go-to for long, technical runs."
When the terrain gets wild and the trail throws everything at us—from loose debris to steep, shifting ground—the Merrell Agility Peak 5 Bliss Shoe keeps us stable, comfortable, and moving fast. Designed for the runner who thrives on technical challenges and frequent changes in pace, this trail runner balances cushioning, grip, and protection in one dialed-in package.
The Vibram® MegaGrip® outsole bites into dirt, rock, and mud with ease, while the FloatPro™ Foam midsole keeps our stride light and springy over long distances. A built-in rock plate guards against sharp terrain, and the engineered mesh upper breathes easy while holding strong. Recycled materials add a layer of sustainability, and details like the external rear sling and protective toe cap lock in the fit for confident movement in every direction.

Here's what customers have to say
The trail shoe provides a comfortable and stable fit, with good cushioning for long hikes and runs. While some users noted issues with the midsole and grip, the shoe generally handles a variety of terrains well. However, it may not be suitable for extremely technical or rugged terrain, and some found it a bit stiff initially. Overall, it is a reliable and comfortable trail shoe, though users should consider the potential drawbacks.

No sole
Comfortable shoe. Lightweight foam construction is great. Cool design and colors. However, the Vibram sole wore out in 2 months of light use. Maybe they aren't made for sidewalks? Disappointing. Do not buy.

Very flimsy top so lace eyelets cut through
Do NOT buy this shoe: the lace eyelets cut through in a very short time, rendering the shoe useless. A very bad design making the material on the top of the shoe so FLIMSY that the lacing cuts through the material in no time at all. I've run many tens of thousands of miles of trail in my 35 years; never seen a design fault like this. (Otherwise it would be a nice shoe but now I have to discard this pair.) Leaving a sour taste in my mouth... See also the other reviews for pix.

Who is picking the Agility's shoe colors??
I don't know who your target customer is, but as a mountain trail runner the colors need to be improved. Running and hiking in muddy or dusty conditions the white will look very dirty from the first use and purple, pink and rainbow are definitely not in my color palate.

AnkleBreaker 5000's
Look, these are good shoes. I think the lightweight, comfortable liner and stiff foam could make for a really great mud or gravel shoe. But Merrell decided to make a lightweight "trail" running shoe with little to no ankle support and a stiff bottom in lieu of actually making a shoe built for running on variable surfaces that make change up that angle of your foot at a moment's notice. These are not built to protect your foot, but they are built to go fast. I would say, if you are looking for a shoe with ridiculous lug length, grip beyond measure, and a stiff sole that will rebound you through the finish line of a muddy or gravel race, you can certainly buy these. But if you run mountain marathons, if you're heading up and down rugged, ragged terrain full of jagged rocks, you are not gonna enjoy this. Or maybe I just have soft ankles. Having ran a few ultra-marathons in Brooks Cascadia 17's and Altra Lone Peak 7's, both on opposite ends of the spectrum of padding, somehow this shoe goes over the line to become the worlds stiffest trail runner on record. Would not recommend for your next mountain-pass race. TLDR; Fun, bouncy but stiff road running shoe that has the grip for trail but the ankle support of a feather in a hurricane. Fine for mud and gravel.

Torn, so much potential. Read Full Review
This is a review for the Agility Peak 5s and not all of Merrell’s products. I love Merrell’s footwear and they have always exceeded expectations of comfort, durability, and quality. However, while every other product I’ve gotten from them has been exceptional unfortunately the Agility Peak 5s have let me down. Comfort, fit, grip, feel, and performance were all great and if it was just those I was basing this rating on then it would get 5 stars. However, the eyelets on these shoes are not durable. I have taken them on several backpacking trips, day hikes, and the rim-to-rim in GCNP. But, total I’ve maybe put ~70 miles on these and to have the eyelets ripping through the way they are already is a huge bummer. We’ll see if they’ll even make it to 100 miles before fully ripping through. Bottom line if it wasn’t for the low quality of the eyelets I would 100% recommended these and give them 5 stars. But, until the durability issues are fixed and resolved I just can’t recommend them. All my other Merrell’s have held up for years but these unfortunately have fallen short. Please fix this issue in newer versions Merrell!

Shoe
The shoe is good, biggest issue is after just a couple uses the eyelits for the laces are stretching and hard to say if there’s much life in them before they rip.

Great choice for a big trip
Great on uneven terrain in plitvice lakes national park Croatia. Wore them right out of the box for this trip with no issues. Light, packable and look good.

So comfy!
These fit so well! Right out of the box they were comfortable. I got a lot of compliments on them too! I work at a summer camp so I walk around a lot on differing terrains.
