Why We Like The Minion DHF 3C/EXO/TR 27.5in Tire
Whether we're splashing through the mud or navigating technical terrain, the Minion DHF 3C/EXO/TR 27.5in Tire provides the grip and control we need for our ride. Ramped knobs promise low rolling resistance, and channel-cut knobs increase gripping edges, which offers excellent cornering in turn. EXO protection improves abrasion resistance in the sidewalls, and 3C Maxx Terra rubber compound provides less rolling resistance than Maxxis' Maxx Grip compound.

Running it as a rear tire
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I'm still pretty new to MTB - bought my bike from a neighbor last year. He had a Minion DHRII in the back with a DHF up front. When the time came for new tires I wanted tan wall so I threw the DHF in both spots - I've heard this is not uncommon. It allows you to replace one tire at a time by rotating front to rear as the rear wears out. Anyway, right off the bat I can tell the difference when riding. There is definitely a little less straight line traction. In the corners I can't tell much of a difference. The rolling resistance is noticeably lower. So in the end I feel that I'm sacrificing a little climbing traction for a less sluggish uphill ride. I started running 1-2 psi less in the rear than I used to and that has helped. The only time it felt sketchy was on wet, rocky downhill tech where I really needed the extra traction and couldn't quite get it. For the trail riding I normally do, I definitely prefer this setup and I would probably still rock a DHF in the back, even if they did a tan wall version of the DHRII.
