Stay warm and light with the Ares Down Jacket—retro style meets ultralight 600-fill performance

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This jacket blends classic style with modern performance. The ultralight design keeps me warm without adding weight, and I love that it packs into its own pocket—perfect for tossing in my pack on winter hikes or travels."

The Marmot Ares Down Jacket delivers everything we need for lightweight warmth, whether we’re hitting the trail or heading into town. Built with retro-inspired style, this jacket combines 600-fill down insulation and a DWR-treated ripstop shell to fend off cold temperatures and light moisture. We stay cozy while the ultralight construction keeps bulk to a minimum, making it perfect for layering or stashing in a pack when the day warms up.

Designed for movement, the Ares Jacket’s Angel-Wing Movement™ ensures unrestricted comfort, while an elastic drawcord hem and zippered hand pockets add thoughtful functionality. When space is limited, it packs neatly into its own pocket, so we’re always ready for spontaneous adventures or chilly commutes.

Great spring and winter jacket with a retro look

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome jacket that looks great and keeps me warm. I’m 6’3” and I ordered a large. The sleeves fit great but I do wish it was an inch longer on my torso. The XL was too big, so I stuck with the large.

Very nice jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the jacket a couple of weeks ago. At first, I thought it was heavy, but not. It is perfect for a windy and cold day. The color combination between, light yelow and organge is great. I like it very much. I like the front pockets that are covered and hidden, which I like very much. The jacket is perfect for a hiking day.
