3.5 stars. The 18L version is better
I had put some miles on the 18L version and wanted a bit more capacity as we head into the colder seasons. The build quality is equally great but the sizing and features that made the 18L a favorite didn't port over 100%. Specifically, I'm tall and the 18L fits fairly well, just a bit short, but the 18L feels very short - enough that the waist belt isn't usable. My other complaint is that the auxiliary pocket I loved in the 18L is a massive, full-depth pocket making it hard to store smaller items like snacks or lights. Finally, I can fit my iPhone 16 Pro Max very comfortably in the 18L's front shoulder pocket but it was surprisingly tight in the 28L. Still a good pack that I'll use, but definitely not as frequently had these other issues been address. I won't return it, but I wouldn't buy it again either.

Lightweight and durable
The backpack delivers impressive functionality in a streamlined, lightweight design. Despite its minimal weight, it offers durable construction and well-considered storage capacity, making it suitable for day trips, commuting, or travel. The ergonomic straps provide comfort during extended wear, and its compact foldability adds convenience for packing. A reliable option for anyone seeking portability without compromising on quality.”

Good small pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Lots of external attachment opportunities. Really designed for specific use with specific tools (ice climbing?) than as a general pack. Nevertheless, well made

Exceptionally well built pack. Great mountaineering all-rounder for climbing, ski touring, etc. Love that it's a very stripable pack. Love the avi pocket. Love the running-style shoulder straps. Removable hip belt, removable frame, roll-top closure. Daisy chain webbing throughout. Bomber ski attachment options. Mammut really delivers on this one. Up to the individual if you like the side access zipper, I think it's nice every now and then to get something at the bottom or if the rolltop is closed. Serves as a great on-route pack for nearly every mountain adventure requiring something in the 20-30L ballpark.
