Streamlined strength and alpine-ready design—the Trion Nordwand 15L Backpack
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"This is my favorite alpine pack for fast missions and summit pushes. It’s crazy light, fits close to the body, and doesn’t get in the way when I’m climbing. It carries surprisingly well for such a minimalist build, and the Cordura fabric is tough as nails."
Built for elite alpinists and fast-moving climbers, the Mammut Trion Nordwand 15L Backpack delivers ultralight functionality without skimping on durability. Developed with input from Mammut’s pro athletes, it’s designed for summit pushes, minimalist alpine routes, and steep objectives where every ounce and every move matters.
The featherlight Cordura ripstop fabric resists abrasion, while the close-fitting design stays stable while climbing, scrambling, or moving fast through mixed terrain. Simple yet refined, it includes essential features like an internal gear loop, hydration compatibility, and a secure rope attachment strap—everything we need, nothing we don’t.

Best climbing pack ever
It’s small and you have to be selective with what you bring but it feels like you are wearing nothing at all.

I want to like it. it's pretty comfortable once on and has some great ideas, but none of them executed very well. unfortunately I always struggle to get things in and out of it due to the narrow closure style and how the dry bag integrates into the middle of the main pack. also the shoulder straps always requires some additional attention when putting on to fix twisting which gets old fast. don't love the Velcro closures on the back - just less convenient than a Bungie cord alternative.

great running pack
I gave this a 4/5 star because it is a great running pack. It is commonly used as a climbing pack but it works great for running! the elastic straps make it easy to take deep breaths and keep it tight to your body. If you go on trail runs I would recommend because it is big enough for water, and extra layers. the only change I may want for a new bag is if the roll top clipped on the side of the bag rather than the top, but that is my preference.

Great for an extreme long day hike that requires additional gear.

Love this pack for long multi pitch! Also used it for ski tours and trail runs. Fits approach shoes layers and water while climbing and awesome to have phone and snacks accessible in the front pouches. It can be tight but I’ve been able to get the rack and harness and climbing shoes into it for the descent and the rope carries great on top!

Great Summit Pack
I like this one a lot for a second pack to bring to the summit on mountaineering trips. Also makes for a good multi-pitch pack. Keep up the vest-style designs Mammut!

Not for any women with an athletic build.
This pack is very large. I am 5'6" 124lbs female runners build. I had to tighten everything all the way to get the pack to stay in place. The shoulder straps cut into the side of my neck. Will be using the black diamond version of the pack instead, this one is unusable it is so uncomfortable. Really disappointed in Mammut's quality. Also bought two Barryvox beacons this year and the signal only reaches about 3 meters so it seems like a lot of their products are going downhill.
