What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This jacket is the perfect balance of lightweight comfort and durability. The 3-layer GORE-TEX keeps me dry in any downpour, while the pre-shaped sleeves and adjustable hood make it easy to move. Whether I’m on a multi-day trek or a stormy summit push, I can trust this jacket to keep me protected without weighing me down."

Designed for unpredictable mountain weather, the Crater Light HS Hooded Jacket delivers high-performance waterproofing in a lightweight, sustainable package. Featuring a 3-layer GORE-TEX ePE membrane, this jacket shields us from wind and rain while allowing excess heat to escape, ensuring we stay dry and comfortable on steep ascents and exposed ridgelines.

Every detail is built for the trail. The pre-shaped sleeves allow natural movement, while an adjustable hood and hem provide a customizable fit. With two backpack-compatible pockets and a water-resistant Aquaguard front zipper, our essentials stay secure and dry. Plus, the use of recycled materials and a PFC-free water-repellent treatment means we can explore with a reduced environmental footprint.

I’ve had mammut raincoats for the last 10 years and this one doesn’t disappoint. My only complaint is there aren’t armpit vents. Fits well over a helmet and served me well in the Cascades

High quality rain jacket

This jacket is a great waterproof layer and holds up very well against high speed wind gusts while hiking in Alaska! The material seems strong and the design is great! Fits true to size and has good sleeve length unlike a lot of other jackets I tried.

fits well and feels durable

The XL fits my 6'3" frame well. The sleeves are not as long as the Mountain Hardware GORE-TEX coats, but I have a plus 6" app index, so if you want longer sleeves get the MH. glued seems and zippers feel sturdy. The only down side is not vent zips in the arm pits. The hood fits the head well and doesn't drop over the eyes like a helmet fitted hood does. Fits well over my 600 fill down jacket. I'm going to get another one to use for work.
