Wh We Like The KEEN Targhee IV WP Wide Hiking Boot

The KEEN Targhee IV WP Wide Hiking Boot is built to handle rough, rocky terrain and post-storm hikes for those of us with wider feet. The KEEN.DRY membrane allows us to tramp through puddles and push across muddy sections of trail without a second thought, keeping our feet dry and protected the entire way. The boots are loaded with cushion and support, providing a stable, comfortable platform as we put miles behind us with miles still to go. The leather uppers protect our feet from rocks and mud, and the grippy KEEN.RUGGED soles give us solid traction no matter where are feet take us.

Here's what customers have to say

Here is the refined product review summary: The hiking shoes offer good comfort, support, and durability for most users. They are described as comfortable right out of the box, with a wide toe box and true-to-size fit. The traction and waterproofing are also highlighted as positive features. However, some customers have experienced issues such as squeaking, lack of cushioning, and the soles wearing down quickly. There are also reports of quality control problems. The included insoles may need to be replaced for optimal comfort.

Great improvement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new design is a great improvement over the former design that had problems with sole edges delaminating.

Cushioning is lost prematurely.

I recall reviewing Keen footwear and telling about how they're a good shoe out of the box, but how longevity leaves a lot to be desired. Cas in point. I have this shoe, Men's Targhee IV Wide Wat. . . Dark Olive/Gold Flame. It was great. I alternate my shoes so as not to develop sores. These still look like new, but the cushioning is gone. I can no longer wear them. I think I bought them last summer. With rotating them as I do, they should have lasted much longer. I guess I'll use them as slippers now.

Shoes was good

The shoes fit my feet perfectly and I loved them. I hated wearing mismatched shoes because the length of the left and right laces, the printing on the inside of the shoes, and the color and shape were different. When the shoes were made, they didn't seem to be made on the same batch. Also, they were made to match each other on during a sale

Men's Targhee IV Wide - Doesn't support like the Targhee2

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had foot and ankle pain and a Podiatrist told me to switch to Keen because of their ridged Sole and Support. I purchased Targhee 2 and my Pain went away. I have had 4 pairs of Targhee 2 and have hiked over 150mmiles in the last 2. 5 years. As you know the problem with The Targhee 2 is the soles come lose. I had a pair that you warrantied and I decided to purchase the Targhee 4 to see if the new design solved the Sole issue. Much to my disappointment, the Targhee 4 does not support like the Targhee 2 and the pain in my feet and ankles returned. I started wearing my old Targhee 2s again and the pain went away. Since i purchased the Targhee IV with Warranty credit, I can not return them. I guess I will wear them sparingly but can't wear them daily the way I do the Targhee 2

Targhee Wide Hikers

These new hikers took a few days to break in with the stiffer soles but they are perfect now, very comfortable and I really like them but I did put in new insoles the ones that came with them weren't all that great with almost no cushioning.

Still in the box, but

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Still in the box, but I also own 2 other pairs different styles. I Wouldn't think of going to another brand

Heavy

Decent shoe but feels plasticy and is very heavy for crew height.

Shoes are great, insoles could be better

I've been a fan of Keen's wider toe-box for years and have owned several pairs. No complaints. It would be nice, however, if they came with better and more substantial insoles. I always swap out the factory provided ones with Superfeet or other similar brands. But replacement insoles are stupidly expensive for some mass produced layers of foam and plastic. Would be nice if the shoes came with a pair of good ones so I didn't feel compelled to shell out more money.
