Why We Like The Garmin inReach Mini 2
The inReach Mini 2 gives us the same compact communication means as its predecessor but now with loads more battery life and features. Rather than lasting hours, it lasts days, letting us use it for much more than just check-ins on our multi-day missions. With the new ability to sync with Garmin Explorer, we can plan our course on the computer screen and save it to this palm-sized device. As we venture well beyond cell coverage, the new electronic compass gives us an accurate heading as we stand still, while the addition of Galileo gives us a quicker and more precise satellite lock, even with some tree cover. If we get turned around, the addition of TracBack routing helps us find our way.

Peace of Mind
I used this on a weeklong solo-hike along the Suwannee River section of the Florida Trail. I appreciated having the ability to communicate with loved ones while hiking in areas without a cell service. My family and friends enjoyed keeping track of me with the live map feature. It took me a bit of time to learn how to set-up the device and navigate the menus. I loved the battery life as well - keep note that it drains much quicker when there is a lot of cloud or tree coverage and when entering buildings/shelters.

Compact and reliable
I bought this for hunting and it’s a great little addition to my gear, tucks away in my bino harness and works great.

Wonderful safety and communication
I purchased this before a 5-day sailing cruise to Apostle Islands. The live track and messaging worked flawless and kept family and friends informed. I should have done this sooner.

We used this when my husband was in the boundary waters. I was able to stay connected with him via an app on my phone. There was a delay in sending/receiving messages but it was better piece of mind to know that we could still keep connected in case something happened. He also used it to call emergency services when his group ran into an issue, they were very responsive. Ideally, it would have its own message screen but this works.

Connection with family
I bought this to satisfy my family when my son and I would be without signal for a week on the Appalachian Trail. Calmed their nerves and mine!!!! Features worked great and looking forward to our next hike:)

Unbelievable peace of mind
I have absolutely no regrets about dropping the money to buy this, or for paying for the subscriptions. I use the navigation features pretty often and they work great, but my main comfort is knowing that I can keep in touch with family and summon emergency rescue god forbid something happened. I can check in with them. They can check in with me. They can see where I'm at. And if something were to ever happen and my tracker didn't move for an extended period of time and they didn't hear back from me then they'd know where to send SoR. And even little things like if my car breaks down and it's something I can't quickly fix out in the wilderness, then I can still tell family and come up with a game plan. As a woman, playing outside has never felt so free and safe. I wish I had gotten this sooner.

Nice to have but pricey service
I liked the peace of mind I got from carrying the InReach with me, but the live tracking service is way too expensive to use when front country hiking. Which is a shame because I often hike and trail run alone.

Easy to use
Setting up the Garmin and selecting a plan was easy and quick. Took less than 10 minutes to set up and learn how to use it. Connection to your phone was easy and quick. Battery life was excellent. Was a little surprised at how long it lasted in temps under freezing. A
