Maximize comfort on every run with Ghost Max 3—plush cushioning meets smooth transitions

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I took the Ghost Max 3 out for a long recovery run and was blown away by how smooth it felt. The cushioning is incredibly protective, but the rocker keeps you moving forward effortlessly. It's stable enough for all-day wear, and roomy enough to accommodate my orthotics with no issue."

We run for a lot of reasons—stress relief, fresh air, training goals—and we reach for the Brooks Ghost Max 3 when we want maximum comfort with none of the fuss. Built with a high stack of DNA LOFT v3 cushioning, this shoe delivers soft, nitrogen-infused protection that minimizes impact and feels plush over any distance. Whether we’re logging easy miles or heading out for long walks, this shoe keeps us comfortable without draining energy.

What sets the Ghost Max 3 apart is the GlideRoll Rocker, which guides us through each stride with smooth, easy transitions. A low offset and wide platform add stability without affecting a neutral gait, making it a top pick for those managing plantar fasciitis or joint discomfort. With its breathable mesh upper, roomy fit, and orthotic-friendly volume, it’s ready for anyone who wants maximum protection in a surprisingly light-feeling ride.

Here's what customers have to say

The shoe is described as comfortable, supportive, and suitable for long walks and workouts, with good cushioning, stability, and a wide toe box. Some users found it helped alleviate foot and leg pain. However, some reported issues with the fit, such as feeling too narrow or having a loose heel. Durability concerns were also mentioned, like the sole wearing down quickly or the shoe taking a long time to dry. The overall consensus is that the shoe provides excellent comfort and support, though the fit may not work for everyone.

Ghost Max 3 are worth it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are a great improvement from the Ghost Max 2. Very comfortable and the cushioning is excellent. Definitely recommend it and worth buying.

Not Good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Why has the footbed changed. The Ghost Max from 2023 was great. This model and the Ghost Max 2 are terrible. I returned both pair. Just go back to the original.

Too narrow toebox

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not as wide of a toebox as previous models. Unsure why Brooks would change the 1 item that allowed them to stand apart from other brands. Podiatrist would recommend this brand due to its roomy toebox fit. Where do wide feet go from here? Very disappointing.

Not pleased

Only been wearing them a couple weeks and the toe area is rubbing off on the outside of the shoe. Was recommended these by my foot doctor and they are not helping.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m super impressed with this version of the Ghost line of running shoes. I’m a larger guy who just started running and these shoes make it super comfortable. I got the wide version in a size 10.5 and they fit really well. I would love to have them in many other colors!

Awful

Have had all 3 generations of the Ghost Max, and the 3s is by far the worst one. The 1st and 2nd gen I could walk 30k steps no issues. With the 3rd, I get terrible arch pain and foot pain after about 10k steps. They started out great but just feel like bricks after 2 months. Went and bought the last pair of the gen 2s I could find in my size. Hoping they make the max 4 like the 2s because these are awful and I feel I wasted my money.

I wish there was just a bit more support across the front top, other than that, it's a very comfortable gym shoe. Brooks is all I wear

Heal Slippage

So I have Hallux Rigidus and have been wearing this with the power step extension - which has helped with the big toe and forefoot pain - my issue lies in the heal slippage which has left me with constant blisters on the back/top of my heal; and yes I have tried different ways to tie, socks, etc. Such a shame bc I want to love them and I have not used them enough to justify the cost, especially bc I don’t want to use them in fear of more blisters.
