Why We Like The Black Diamond Creek 50L Backpack

The Creek 50L Backpack is Black Diamond's answer for our gear-heavy trips to the crag. With its 50-liter capacity, this bucket-style day pack carries a crap-load of gear while the rain hood doubles as a helmet or rope holder to haul our climbing kit up to the mountain. Load lifters, padded shoulder straps, a hip belt, and thermoformed backpanel help us carry the weight while the bag-style bottom helps keep the pack upright for easy loading and unloading.

Here's what customers have to say

This pack offers a large capacity and durable construction suitable for carrying a full set of climbing gear. The simple layout with a main compartment and side access is appreciated for easy loading and unloading. The pack is also noted for its stability and ability to stand upright on its own. While a few minor issues are mentioned, such as the lack of internal organization pockets and the need for wider shoulder straps, the overall consensus is that this is an exceptional climbing pack that meets the needs of both casual and serious climbers.

Everyone's favorite crag pack, but my shoulder strap is ripping off?

Sometimes I get to the crag, and I set my bag down, only to (moments later) accidentally be rummaging in someone else's IDENTICAL backpack. These are GREAT, and sometimes it feels like everyone has them. My one concern though, is that after just a couple years, it seems like one of the shoulder straps is about to rip off. I think BD could improve the construction a bit, while keeping the design the same, and I'd give 10/10

Creek 50 review

This pack was an incredible addition and really stood out during my most recent trip to Red Rocks, Joshua Tree and some of the limestone faces surrounding Vegas. As well as Texas granite climbing. It held all of my gear in an organized manner but my biggest compliment I can give it is how well the pack carried. It was impressively comfortable to carry 45-50 pounds of gear for some pretty gnarly approaches. It flies well too. Zippers stayed close through baggage check/handling. If I could have a single complaint it would be the plastic clasps to keep the rain tarp in place. I wrenched down on one and it broke. But due to all of the loops I was still able to tie off and keep my gear secure and dry. Plan to use this pack for years to come!!

Awesome. I was worried 50L

Awesome. I was worried 50L might be too big for what I will use it for, but am glad I went with 50L

I like big packs

This thing is a big boy. I got it to hold my climbing and bolting gear and it does it very well. I have a Mystery Ranch tower for my daily pack but it is too small for a full rack, rope, helmet and water without clipping stuff to the outside. This pack will hold all that gear and then room left over.

Best Trad Climbing Pack on the market

I had always used backpacking packs for my trad days at the Gunks. I thought all of the pockets for organization and comfort for "long" approaches made sense. I was wrong. This pack is super durable, has just the right amount of organizational pockets and is plenty comfortable for most approaches. It stands up straight on the ground and is cavernous - making it so easy to pack/unpack and find what you need. Full accepts my double trad rack, water, layers, etc. with the strap over the top to hold a rope. (side note: BD - please bring back your Super Slacker Rope Bag!). Highly recommend!

Best pack on market

Just what it says, best pack period. I have 2 50 L one 35L. I have gone thru and had other brands and one thing this has over all of them is it’s a BD bag. It’s tough, comfortable, and it just plain functions. If your in market for climbing bag this is where I’d stop looking. 35L for single pitch short days or sport climbing. 50L for multi pitch or trad climbing. Big fan

💜💜💜💜💜

Five hearts for the five stars of how much I love this rope bag. When I went around and asked everyone that I climb with and work with movement they all said the same thing that this was the bag to buy and they were absolutely correct!

Best rope bag ever

Big enough for an Indian creek rack plus rope, food and water no problem. Maybe too Big for sport climbing? I personally love it.
