Been using the standard size ATC-Guide since I started climbing and so when I started to purchase smaller cords for big moderate routes, this was the perfect choice. Used mainly with a Beal 8. 5, I picked up two of these so my partner would also have the appropriate device.

Light Weight and Great for Smaller Diameter Ropes
Used this device on a canyoneering trip with smaller diameter ropes and it worked like a champ. Higher friction was good for heavier loads. Super lightweight.

Classic belay device - recommend 100%, though I'm a new climber. A more experienced climber told me that the ATC wears down in the corners in time, and can damage your ropes. Still recommend - just keep an eye on it and replace when it's time

Best all around guide plate for skinny ropes
It just works well if you are trained to use it in all modes. Belay from below, belay from above, belaying two climbers and expedient haul ratchet for short ascents and raises.
