Afterglow is a great addition!
I have tried several options for active long sleeve sun and active shirt options. This is my favorite. Provides sun protection and good ventilation for big efforts.

Excellent Sun Protection
I purchased this shirt for hiking exposed ridgelines in Idaho, and I have been extremely satisfied. I was a little hesitant to try hiking with the hood up, thinking I would overheat. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how cool I stayed in direct sunlight even with the hood up. It really blocks out a lot of the UV and heat. I even wore this shirt as my base layer under a light windbreaker when I hiked Borah peak in August. It wicked sweat away great as I was ascending. I was then able to just wear this shirt as my only layer on the descent once the sun started to get hot. Very happy with this purchase.

Versatility at its finest
This is hands down my favorite item that I own from Black Diamond. Purchased it for some sun protection during high alpine summer Colorado hikes to it works great for so many uses as well. Perfect hiking top on its own in the spring, summer, and fall or as a base/mid layer under a shell or insulated jacket in the colder months. For higher aerobic activities it dries crazy fast even when it’s pretty wet. The hood is well designed to give your ears and neck some good sun protection in the summer. I’m 5’10 and about 175lbs and the size large is comfortably big. Probably could have gone with a medium but the large works well. This is my absolute go-to to keep the sun protection high, when watching my daughter’s outdoor summer swim meets here in the Colorado sun. I’d recommend adding this to your cart today.

My favorite piece of gear for all 4 seasons
I love this hoody. I use it as much backcountry skiing for sun/wind protection and head warmth as I do while kayaking/climbing/fly fishing to keep me from getting melanoma. My favorite piece of gear.

Great Versatile Hoody
Super light weight and breathable. The vents under the arms and the 1/5 zip make this a versatile hoodie that can be used for everything from trail runs, to long climbs/delays, or even as a base layer in the winter. Also has great SPF for those high UV index days.

Perfect sun protection
The Alpenglow hoody is an excellent piece of gear. From the long zipper to the chest pocket to the under-arm vents, sun hoodies just don't get any better. The lightweight material coupled with the spot-on fit makes this the perfect hoody for hiking, fishing, paddling, upland bird hunting - you name it. After owning many other brands of hoodies, this one tops the list. 10/10
